Giselle is interested in diaspora and how migrant communities overcome the challenges they face in an increasingly hostile environment .
Focussing on the Cuban exile community of Little Havana , Miami , Giselle confronts the distorted representation of migrant communities by certain rightwing media outlets . Her paintings and sculptures seek to expose political half truths , and shine a light on the positive aspects of migrant culture to counter the negativity .
Giselle’s research informs her practice : art is for her a visual tool to facilitate a change in thinking towards migrant communities .The materials she uses are as carefully considered as the message they convey.
Giselle completed her Bachelors degree at Goldsmiths and has just graduated with a Masters degree in Fine Art at Brighton University . She has exhibited at the 'Monochrome Gallery' in Whitechapel and the 'Sala Brasil Gallery' at the Embassy of Brazil in London .
